New hire strengthens Chinese equity capability at Investec AM

Investec Asset Management has appointed Amy Leung as it expands its China equity investment team.

Leung, who will be based in Hong Kong, joins the team of Asia, China and emerging market specialists within the Investec 4Factor Global Equity capability from Newton Investment Management.

She will report to Greg Kuhnert, portfolio manager of the Investec All China and Asian Equity strategies, and co-head of 4Factor Equities, and will be focused on China.

Investec AM boosts EMD team

Kuhnert said: "Amy's hire is part of the 4Factor team's continuing investment in our Chinese equity capability, driven by the opening of Chinese capital markets to the world.

"Her appointment will add valuable specialist expertise to our established Asian equity capabilities and support the growth of our dedicated All China strategy, which we launched five years ago to meet the growing demands of our clients for access to the investment opportunity represented by China."

Leung has more than a decade of experience covering Asia Pacific ex-Japan equities.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Leung was a fundamental equities analyst at Newton and had joined in July 2013.
