Burford Capital confirms dismissal of US class action

Announces management changes for ‘future global growth’

Litigation financier Burford Capital has announced that the US securities class action against it filed in August 2019 has been “withdrawn by the plaintiffs and dismissed in its entirety”.

In a statement, Burford Capital added: "There is no litigation pending against Burford at present other than ordinary course skirmishing within a small number of ongoing funded investment matters." Last year, Burford Capital became locked in a dispute with short-seller Muddy Waters, which took a short position in the litigation firm in August, prompting its valuation to decline.
