Polar Capital's Godber & Hamilton: The risk in markets feels more permanent

Polar Capital's George Godber and Georgina Hamilton have moved away from a domestic focus on their UK Value Opportunities fund, holding a larger number of overseas earners, as they are "enthusiastic" about markets but have a number of concerns.

The pair are holding a more balanced exposure between domestic and overseas earners compared with three to four years ago when they were running the Miton UK Value Opportunities fund, which was more domestically-focused.  Hamilton and Godber previously launched the UK Value Opportunities fund at Miton in 2013 and ran it until 2016, growing assets to over £800m. Hamilton then left to join Polar Capital at the end of 2016 to set up the UK Value Opportunities fund, with Godber following in April 2017 - since then the fund has grown to £590m.
