Predicts US leading downturn in late 2019

The location and timing of the next recession is a key asset allocation concern for Heartwood Investment Management, with the firm currently predicting a downturn originating in the US in late 2019, according to investment director Graham Bishop.

Bishop, who joined Heartwood from Citibank in May 2017 and is responsible for tactical asset allocation, said "mounting inflation pressure" and its impact on central bank policy is another area the team is monitoring closely.
