Last month, the partners of St James's Place (SJP) raised over a million pounds in a single night for its charitable foundation.

I know this because SJP supports one of the same charities as Investment Week - CHICKS - which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. CHICKS stands for Country Holidays for Inner City Kids, and it tries to make a difference to the lives of children and their families by taking them on week-long breaks so they can have fun in the fresh air and meet other children with a similar background. These are children like two teenage boys who are sole carers for their father, who is crippled and incapable of looking after them because he has multiple sclerosis.  So why does it matter...
