Last week"s document from the FSA on the proposed menu-based system for remuneration was thankfully short at around 40 pages - not including the appendices of course. That was the good news. Thereafter, the complexity of the arrangements and suggestions the FSA is putting forward will fill most advisers with horror. It smacks quite simply of more red tape and more paperwork. With ongoing compliance costs of £22m a year for the advisory community, the menu is likely to be an expensive addition, as well as adding to paperwork.
