F&C multi-manager heads Rob Burdett and Gary Potter have increased their position in Asia from underweight to neutral, despite believing things will get worse before they get better for certain parts of the region.
Burdett has recently returned from a fact-finding trip to Asia. Following the visit, he said his views on North Asia and Japan were positive, but southern countries in the region were suffering. As a result, the pair are not prepared to move their portfolios overweight Asia at this time. "We have moved up to neutral on the rest of Asia, but it is very disparate. China and Hong Kong look like good value, but India, Indonesia and Malaysia are suffering and have less well-balanced economies," Burdett said.
