Asian stocks decline on 3% Friday slide in US

Asian markets were in decline today following the sharp 3% fall for US indices on Friday.

US markets were once again hit by economic growth concerns at the close of trading last week, with the Dow Jones closing 2.52% behind to 10,097.90. The broader S&P 500 slid 2.88% to 1,064.88, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq dived 3.11% to 2,179.05. The growth fears coincided with weaker than expected results from financial giants Bank of America and fellow bank Citigroup. Asian indices were hit by the negative sentiment on Monday, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng down 0.98% to 20,052.41. Sydney's All Ordinaries index fell 1.45% to 4,372.70.
