Hipgnosis expands portfolio with acquisition of Lindsey Buckingham and Jimmy Iovine catalogues

Music fund goes its own way with big-name deals

Hipgnosis Songs Fund has added the music catalogue of Lindsey Buckingham, former lead vocalist and guitarist in Fleetwood Mac, to its portfolio, having announced the acquisition of record executive Jimmy Iovine's music catalogue yesterday (4 January).

The fund announced it has now, together with a 25% share snapped up on 30 September 2020, acquired 100% of Buckingham's music publishing rights, including his publishing and writer's share, of his entire catalogue comprising 161 songs, as well as a 50% share of any unreleased compositions. Hipgnosis has also purchased 100% of Iovine's catalogue of worldwide producer royalties, comprising 259 songs and his film production royalties for 8 Mile and Get Rich or Die Tryin'.
