Joanna Munro is set to become global CIO at HSBC Global Asset Management, taking over from Chris Cheetham who announced plans to retire after 17 years in the role in May.

Taking over from 40-year veteran Cheetham at the end of September, Munro currently serves as global head of stewardship and fiduciary governance, as well as chairperson, at HSBC GAM UK. Munro joined the firm in October 2005 as global CIO HSBC Investments, and has also previously served as head of product and CEO of Asia Pacific operations. Outside of HSBC GAM, she serves as a non-executive director of the Investment Association and is a founding member of the Diversity Project.
