Ignis Asset Management's head of US equities Terry Ewing reveals his top five stocks to stand up against the continuing global turmoil.

Ewing runs the £88m Ignis American Growth fund, which has returned 8.2% over the past year against a sector average of 5.4%, according to Morningstar. His first choice is Las Vegas Sands a $35bn market cap casino and resort gaming company with most of its assets in Macau and Singapore. "The company is set to grow rapidly over the next five years as gaming penetration in Asia increases. The company has a number of new facilities opening in Macau as well as the completion of its Singapore facility which should drive growth in high end gaming," Ewing said.
