I have another one of those fantastic investment opportunities for you - say it quietly so everyone does not catch on: coloured diamonds.

They have not ‘registered a downward price correction in over 30 years’. And apparently coloured diamonds have doubled at the dealer level every 4-7 years. That is an average of 12%-15% per year. Yes, I got one of those bizarre direct mail letters at home offering me an investment opportunity, and all for the modest sum of $5,000. If the ‘potential’ returns do not attract you, you can ‘purchase in one currency and sell in another’ acting as a potential HEDGE against downward pressure on the US dollar.
