The moaning about bankers' bonuses has come around again right on time, just after we have all run out of money from the January sales and Bob Crow announces another strike.
It is times like these when you wish you could decamp somewhere hot and sunny and get away from the doom and gloom. I must admit I did laugh when Crow said he was likely to declare another tube strike on the day Wills and Kate get married. You can imagine the consternation at Buck Palace: “Oh damn, no tubes, how on earth are we going to get to the wedding?” But more fundamental is the annual debate about whether ‘bankers’ deserve large bonuses.
