Whatever your view on rating agencies, there remain just a handful of funds deemed worthy of an S&P AAA, particularly in UK equities. So the fact two funds were stripped of the ranking last week is certainly worthy of note. Jupiter's Edward Bonham Carter and New Star's Stephen Whittaker both lost the top rating following periods of underperformance. What this means is that if advisers do use the rankings to help with fund selection, the UK All Companies peer group now offers just nine AAA rated vehicles - three of which are trackers.
