By next month the darling of the fund management industry in the 1980s - Henderson, and the darling of fund management in this decade - New Star, will merge to become Henderson New Star. For deals of this nature the merger has been concluded swiftly, which must be a positive, unlike Aberdeen's purchase of Credit Suisse assets which was a long and drawn-out affair.
