A grand total of 888 responses later, and the FSA's retail distribution review (RDR) looks to be moving in an encouraging direction. The regulator published an interim report on the RDR last week, highlighting its thinking after months of feedback ahead of final proposals later this year. Gone are the confusing - and, in many cases, unworkable - definitions of professional, general and primary adviser. Also conspicuous by its absence is any confusion about exactly what independence will mean. In place of all this is an apparently simple split between advice, sales and money guidance...
