CASCAID, the industry-wide campaign to raise £1m for Great Ormond Street Hospital over the next 12 months, has already surpassed £300,000, including £100,000 raised at the June Gala Dinner.
The dinner was held at The Brewery in London on 21 June and saw hundreds of figures from across the asset management industry raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) - this year's chosen charity.
Soprano singer Laura Wright performed for the audience free of charge, which helped bring the total fundraising figure for the night to just over £100,000.
Combined with funds raised through other events such as BMO GAM's walk around the M25 which raised almost £40,000, the campaign has already surpassed the £300,000 mark.
Members of the asset management community have also pledged to carry out a number of other challenges in aid of the children's hospital, including a Dragon Boat race in September and a fun run in October.
Investment Week will be hosting the Great British Pub Quiz for the second year running on 24 July at The Brewery and teams of six to eight people are invited to join.
Legg Mason will be holding a 24-hour pingpongathon starting at 8am on 26 July and ending at 8am on 27 July, at 201 Bishopsgate in the City.
There will be challenges between colleagues and fun and games for
players of all abilities, including complete novices. The group has called for volunteers to take part or simply spectate and help reach its target of £20,000.
To join Alex Barry, head of UK sales and the rest of the Legg Mason team, or to donate, visit its fundraising page here.
Meanwhile, Helen Wagstaff, managing director at Marketing in Partnership (MiP), has asked for senior figures in the industry to take part in the abseil challenge which takes place on 26 August.
Volunteers will climb down the 161m Broadgate Tower. To get involved, email Helen at [email protected].
Last year, the industry smashed the £1m target by raising £2.2m for Cancer Research UK through many different challenges and events including mountain climbs, night walks, driving around the UK in a Robin Reliant, a 24-hour dart-a-thon and country-wide cycling.
