Legg Mason has hired Sophie Andrews in the newly-created position of head of UK strategic alliances, responsible for developing relationships with the firm's distribution partners and advisory sales channels across the country.
The role will also see her work closely with Legg Mason's alternative distribution strategies team and report to head of UK sales Alexander Barry, with whom she worked previously at JPMAM.
Barry said the appointment demonstrates the firm's "commitment to building long-term strategic partnerships with our clients at a time when investors around the world are increasingly preferring to partner with fewer, diversified, asset managers".
He added: "Sophie's extensive experience in growing and servicing key client relationships will significantly strengthen our capabilities in this area and I look forward to welcoming her on board."
Andrews joins Legg Mason after eight years with JP Morgan Asset Management, where she most recently served as strategic relationship manager, responsible for relationships with key platforms, research houses, and national and network accounts. She was also responsible for developing the group's IFA channel.
Commenting on the move, Andrews said Legg Mason's affiliate model "provides investors with a variety of truly active, compelling and dynamic investment solutions".
She added: "With the investment choices available, Legg Mason is able to provide solutions to a whole host of market conditions."
