Xavier Rolet, chief executive of London Stock Exchange, is to leave the exchange "with immediate effect", one year ahead of his scheduled departure.
According to Bloomberg, Rolet's resignation follows weeks of disagreement with the board and a shareholder over his departure date. Rolet, who has been chief executive since May 2009, announced he would be leaving in October and was due to leave at end of 2018. The shareholder, a hedge fund activist called TCI Fund Management, wanted Rolet to stay in the role until 2021 and LSE chairman Donald Brydon to leave instead.
