MSCI: Asian markets outperform 'expensive' US equities in January

Asian countries such as China and Korea were the best performing equity markets in the first month of 2017, while US equities were the worst performing, according to data from MSCI.

Korea was the best performing country in January 2017 returning 7.8%, while China produced the second highest returns of 5.8%, compared to the global market (ACWI) return of 3.1%. US markets were the worst performer with a return of 2.1%, however, looking at year-to-date figures the UK fell behind the US with the lowest returns. According to the latest MSCI Country Index Report, the UK has returned 1.9% from the start of the year to 3 February, while the US has gained 3%.
