Old Mutual has hired Rob Leith to lead the 'managed separation' of the firm's four businesses.

Last week, it was announced the FTSE-100 listed group was to embark on a 'managed separation' of its various divisions.

The four key businesses are: Old Mutual Emerging Markets; Old Mutual Wealth (led by Paul Feeney) which includes asset management arm Old Mutual Global Investors; Nedbank Group and OM Asset Management in the US.

The group has now appointed Leith to the group executive committee as director of managed separation.

He will work on ensuring the managed separation is executed smoothly and will work alongside group finance director Ingrid Johnson and group strategy director Ian Gladman.

Bruce Hemphill, chief executive of Old Mutual, said: "I am delighted that Rob has agreed to join the team. He brings commercial wisdom to the complex interrelated set of decisions which will be required as we execute the managed separation."

Leith said: "I am excited to join Old Mutual as it moves into this next important phase of its evolution. Old Mutual has four very strong businesses with excellent competitive positions in sizeable markets. I look forward to working with the businesses to unlock shareholder value."
