Five small caps to play the export-led recovery in Europe

Investors should be turning their attention to small-cap stocks, instead of their larger counterparts, to play the export-led recovery in Europe, according to S.W. Mitchell Capital's Jamie Carter.

The manager of the SWMC Small Cap European fund said the belief that small caps in Europe tend to be domestically-led is a "huge misconception" and there are many global companies within the space. "Lots of small caps are exposed to the export-led recovery. I have spent a lot of time visiting companies in Europe and this is pretty broad-based. US dollar strength is hugely helping exporters, particularly small caps," he said. "Everyone believes small caps are domestically-orientated but that is a huge misconception."
