Threadneedle has hired L&G Investment Management's Matthew Evans to its UK small-cap equity team as it strengthens its capabilities in the sector.

Evans will join in October 2013 from Legal & General Investment Management, where he was part of a team managing £950m in assets. At Threadneedle he will work closely with James Thorne, manager of the £122m UK Smaller Companies fund, as part of a small- and mid-cap equity team that manages £1.4bn in assets. "Matthew's appointment further strengthens our UK small and mid-cap expertise and I am confident that with his experience and expertise in this asset class, the team will continue to deliver out-performance for our clients," said Simon Brazier, head of UK equities at Threadneedle.
