Average UK equity weightings in pension funds fell to the lowest level since the mid-1970s last year, figures from Mellon have revealed. Overall weightings to equities overall fell for the sixth consecutive year, from 66.5% to 64.5%, due to schemes continuing to reduce their exposure to the UK market. Average UK equity weightings dropped from 39.0% to 35.7%. At the same time, funds increased their overseas equity weightings from 27.5% to 28.8%, an all-time high since Mellon records began.
