The FTSE 100 rose by 1.43% this morning climbing 58.82 points to 4,190.05, at 8:50am. Mining companies led the way with Rio Tinto registering a rise of 7.99% on the morning markets. This comes on a denial it is planning a rights issue. Meanwhile, Eurasian climbed 6.41% while Xstrata rose 5.93%. Royal Bank of Scotland Group saw its shares rise by 6.02%. This comes amid news that Bank of America the US's largest bank will receive $20bn of government aid and $118bn of guarantees against bad assets.
