The regime will guarantee funds will be taxed as investing not trading and means funds can now undertake a wide range of investment transactions knowing with certainty what their tax treatment will be. The IMA says the new rules will also mean UK funds will now be able to market competitively to UK and international investors, to sell to sophisticated investors without being impeded by complex tax rules and to invest tax efficiently in property.
