One hundred years ago this November, a small group of powerful and wealthy men made their way to Jekyll Island off the Georgia coastline, a private hunting and leisure club owned by J.P. Morgan.

The gathering consisted of: Republican Senator Nelson Aldrich, chairman of the National Monetary Commission and business associate of J.P. Morgan; Abraham Andrew, assistant secretary of the US Treasury; Frank Vanderlip, president of the National City Bank of New York, the largest bank at that time.
