The government's move to stimulate the housing market, banks returning to profit, and the impending wind down of QE show the UK economy is coming back to life, says Premier's Chris White.
One of the positive factors for global stock markets is the US. The world currently looks a better place when viewed from New York rather than from London, Berlin or Madrid. When viewed from the other side of the Atlantic, problems in Cyprus and other European countries do not cause much of a flicker on the radar. A recovering housing market, a functioning banking system and an economy that is strong enough to be considering the ending of quantitative easing is great news for the US.
