With the UK equity market pretty much flat for the first half of 2011, investors are wondering what H2 has in store. From a UK economic perspective the outlook is a pretty depressing one. UK companies are generally in good health, trading well with exceptionally strong balance sheets. The latter is very important since it means they will be able to withstand a downturn, pay and increase dividends, buy other companies and spend money on other companies’ goods and services.
