Smith and Savage named Rathbones co-CIOs with Chillingworth set to retire

CIO to retire next year after four decades

Rathbones head of research Elizabeth Savage and head of asset allocation research Edward Smith are set to take over as co-CIOs, with Julian Chillingworth to retire next year after more than 40 years in the investment industry.

The responsibilities of Chillingworth, who will depart in early 2022 after 20 years with Rathbones, will now be divided, with dedicated investment leadership roles for Rathbone Investment Management and Rathbone Unit Trust Management.  The next chapter: Reaction to Rathbones and Saunderson House deal Smith and Savage will lead the newly created CIO office and report to Rathbone Investment Management managing director, Ivo Darnley.
