Travelling to Brazil, we are impressed by the standard of accommodation for many of its citizens. Smart apartment blocks are fast replacing the hotchpotch, rather chaotic developments which have characterised urban living for much of the population until now. Still, while many Brazilians are joining the middle classes and have very similar housing standards to what we expect in the UK, millions of their co-citizens are still living without access to basic standards of housing, sanitation and utilities.
