Bond veteran Bill Gross to retire after four decades

Maroutsos to take over funds

Bill Gross, who co-founded fixed income specialist PIMCO in 1971 before joining Janus Capital (now Janus Henderson) in 2014, has announced he will retire in March to focus on managing his personal assets and private charitable foundation.

The bond giant, who has run the Janus Henderson Global Unconstrained Bond fund and related strategies since 2014, will pass his portfolio management responsibilities to Nick Maroutsos and the global macro fixed income team that has supported him over the last four years. Maroutsos, co-head of global bonds and portfolio manager at Janus Henderson, will become the named manager of the funds from 15 February.
