LGIM hires BlackRock's Sandrin amid Italy expansion

Part of firm's wider European expansion plans

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has hired Giancarlo Sandrin, former head of asset manager clients at BlackRock's iShare's business in Italy, to lead the launch of its new retail business in Milan.

The launch of the Italian business is part of LGIM's wider plans for European expansion, with the firm rolling out a range of ETFs, SICAVs and UCITS funds to Italian investors. LGIM gets go ahead for European base in Dublin Sandrin's hire is the latest in a string of senior appointments for LGIM's European operations, with Philipp Graf von Königsmarck and James Crossley joining as head of wholesale, Germany and head of UK retail sales respectively.
