Fraser Blain, former head of UK retail distribution at Allianz Global Investors, has joined Zurich UK in a newly-created role as national investment development director.
Blain left AllianzGI last September after 15 years at the firm, where he was responsible for UK retail distribution including advisory, discretionary, platform distribution and global banks.
His role was taken over by Adam Gent, who joined from Legg Mason in 2017 as its Northern Europe sales head.
Blain joined Zurich as national investment development director in December, in a new role the firm has created in response to demand for its £300m Horizon multi-asset fund range.
In the new position, Blain is responsible for the sales and distribution strategies of Zurich's retail investment products.
Zurich said the performance of the five-strong fund range has been strong in recent years and it was considering expanding the range.
Jamie Drewett, head of intermediary distribution at Zurich, said: "With his extensive experience in the retail investment market, Fraser will be crucial in helping us increase our support for intermediaries looking for simple, customer-centric fund solutions.
"His arrival underlines our intent to further enhance our Horizon funds by expanding the range and offering them through alternative distribution channels, including other platforms."
Blain said: "This is an exciting time to join Zurich's investment team, which has developed a strong reputation for delivering client-focussed investment solutions.
"I am looking forward to further strengthening the support in the market for advisers who are looking for simple, straightforward funds that can help clients reach their financial goals."
