Trump may keep 'terrific' Yellen as Fed chair amid stockmarket boom

US President Donald Trump has said he may hand Janet Yellen a second term as Federal Reserve chair, despite his desire to "make [his] own mark" on the running of the central bank, as her policies have supported the strong rally in the US stockmarket.

Speaking to the Fox Business Network, Trump said he "would certaintly think about" extending her term at the helm of the central bank. He said: "In one way, I would have to say, you would like to make your own mark, which is maybe one of the things she has got a little bit against her. "But I think she is terrific, we had a great talk, and we are obviously doing very well together if you look at the markets."
