Barclays Wealth and Investment Management has appointed Ian Aylward as head of manager and fund selection in its global investments and solutions team from Punter Southall Aspire, less than a year after he joined the firm from Aviva Investors.

Aylward will report to chief investment officer Arne Hassel and will be responsible for the selection, investment and monitoring of managers and funds across Barclays' investment proposition.

He will oversee the portfolio management of single asset class and multi-asset class funds, under the multi-manager umbrella of globally diversified portfolios.

Aylward joins from workplace pensions and savings business Punter Southall Aspire, which he joined in April this year after leaving Aviva Investors in March.

At Punter he worked as the investment director and head of manager research. Prior to this he was head of multi-manager research at Aviva Investors, and has also worked as head of alternatives research at Skandia Investment Group.

Hassel said:"With over 20 years in the investment industry, Ian is a very experienced and credible leader, with a proven track record of selecting managers and funds and managing single and multi asset fund solutions."

"GI&S has a strong capability within manager and fund selection, with experts covering all major asset classes and investment areas. I am very happy to have Ian on board to lead and further develop this effort." Ian

Aylward said: "I am looking forward to working with the GI&S team to add significant value in manager and fund selection to meet the needs of all clients segments across Barclays."
