Neptune US Income manager Rebecca Edelman is to leave the firm to take a strategist position at Tesco.

Edelman, who has managed the £21m fund since September 2010, is to  become a senior strategist at the supermarket.

Neptune European Income fund manager James Hackman will work with Edelman and US equities head Felix Wintle during a transition period. Hackman will then assume lead management of the fund.

Neptune deputy managing director Richard Green said: “It is a testament to [Edelman's] first-class research skills, developed at Neptune, that she has been selected for such a key role at this major FTSE consumer group.”

The US Income fund returned 31% in the three years to 29 April 2014, compared to a sector average of 34.8%, according to FE.

Edelman's exit follows a number of departures from Neptune over the past year, including former UK Equity fund manager Alex Breese.
