Aberdeen warns clients over internet scam

Aberdeen Asset Management has warned investors to watch out for a scam artist claiming to represent the firm.

According to a warning published on the firm's website, the individual has contacted clients by email offering false lease agreements. The fraudster has been using the old logo for Aberdeen Asset Management and pretending to be a member of the company's staff on his LinkedIn page. "Aberdeen does not offer such agreements and will not contact the public in this way to offer such," the firm said in a statement.
