Henderson poaches Aberdeen's Gillan to head Asian equities desk

Henderson Global Investors has hired Aberdeen Asset Management's Andrew Gillan to head its Asian equities team, following the announcement he had resigned from his previous role.

In his new role, based in Singapore, Gillan will take over as lead manager of the £200m Henderson Asia Pacific Capital Growth fund and the $33m Henderson Horizon Asian Growth fund. Gillan has been running money in Asia for over a decade, and was previously in charge of the UK's largest Asia (ex-Japan) investment trust, the £600m Edinburgh Dragon Investment Trust. Since taking over in June 2010, the trust's performance has struggled against peers, returning NAV growth of 12.4%, versus the index gain of 18.3%, according to data from FE.
