EFG's Mok revamps investment strategy on new China fund

Ex-GAM manager Mansfield Mok has revamped his investment strategy for the launch of EFG Asset Management's New Capital China Equity fund.

Mok, who managed the GAM Star China Equity fund until leaving the group for EFG in May, will employ the same unconstrained investment style but will run a more concentrated portfolio. The new fund will hold between 25 and 35 stocks, with Mok retaining his focus on bottom-up stock selection. "I have been through the stages of running a fund with £20m in assets to $2bn (£1.26m) in assets, and it is very hard to run even a 50 stock portfolio with assets that large, especially given the current environment," he said.
