Apple stock has hit a new high of $600 per share as the third edition of its iPad tablet computer hits the stores and flew off the shelves.
Shares in the technology giant were propelled to $600.01 in the latter stages of US trading yesterday when the tablet started to go on sale in Australia, before easing back to close at $585.56. One share is now more expensive than the $499 sales price for a wi-fi iPad, the earlier edition. The latest version boasts 4G capability, a HD screen and a better camera and went on sale in the UK this morning. Apple's shares only crossed the $500 mark a month ago, according to Reuters, and the stock has jumped 45% so far this year.
