Polar to launch GEM fund for Calvert next month

Sector specialist Polar Capital plans to launch an emerging markets fund next month for its recently-hired trio from Axa Framlington.

Polar - which already has established teams in healthcare and technology - hired Axa's William Calvert, Ming Kemp and Neil Denman in July to build a GEM franchise. The group also recently acquired HIM Capital, a ready-made financials sector specialist. Polar's anticipates a November launch for its long-only Global Emerging Markets Growth fund, with further EM products to follow in due course.
