The FSA has added its voice to the growing clamour on alternatively secured pensions (Asps), claiming religious beliefs should not be included in fact-finds. Clive Briault, the regulator's retail managing director, made the comments at the FSA's annual meeting, in response to questions on recent comments from Ed Balls. Treasury adviser Balls recently said Asps, which allows individuals to delay annuity purchase after 75, should be restricted to members with religious issues surrounding annuities, specifically the Plymouth Brethren.
