Barings CIO Michael Hughes is to retire at the end of 2007. The role of CIO will then be assumed by Marino Valensise, currently head of Barings’ fixed income and currency team. Alan Wilde, currently deputy head, will take leadership of the fixed income and currency team. Hughes had joined Barings in 1998 from Barclays Capital, where he was the group economic advisor and chairman of Barclays Capital Pensions.
