Artemis: The last six months have not been a 'purple patch' for range

Artemis saw an "unusually low" number of its funds - 10 of its 23 - outperform their benchmarks over the last six months, amid volatility across global markets.

In a six-monthly update to investors, Artemis noted stockmarkets had not delivered "a bad result" over the period from 3 October 2015 to 5 April 2016, with the S&P 500 returning 11.8% and the MSCI AC World up 7.4%. A notable exception to "this happy rule" was the FTSE All Share, the firm said, which fell by 1.4% in sterling terms as the currency weakened. However, the unit trusts and OEICs offered by the firm have not performed as strongly as it had expected, with only 10 of its 23 products outperforming their respective benchmarks.
