A recent Conjecture debate, the first part of which is transcribed here, featured Julian Chillingworth, Sunil Krishnan and Robert Quinn. They discussed the outlook for the global economy as we enter the fourth quarter of the year and debated the sustainability of a recovery in the key markets

A year has now passed since the collapse of Lehman and there are a lot of signals coming out of the two main central banks, the Bank of England and the Federal Reserve, suggesting the worst is over. So are our hopes being falsely raised and what is the outlook for the key investing markets? Julian Chillingworth (JC): As you rightly said, things look considerably better than they did even three months ago. The key leading economic indicators are undoubtedly suggesting we are embarking on, at least in the short term or for the next few quarters, quite a sharp bounce in economic activity...
