Mortgage advisers who are currently members of the Life Insurance Association (LIA) and who transfer into the proposed Personal Finance Society (PFS) are being offered free membership of the Society of Mortgage Professionals. The society is being set up by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to boost professional development and standards. The CII has said the 1,000-plus eligible mortgage advisers who become part of the PFS at launch will be exempt from paying the SMP's £30 joining fee.
