Quite probable Stuart Parks, head of Asian equities, Invesco Perpetual I think it quite probable China's economic output will overtake that of the US by 2027. If measuring GDP by purchasing-power parity, that point may come even sooner. However, measuring output in current dollars, the assumptions required for China to overtake the US are quite reasonable, and serve to remind us of China's enormous potential.
