While the IMA considers how to rename the Managed sectors, Cautious mandates storm ahead of peers over testing three years.

The Investment Management Association (IMA) recently postponed its long-in-coming verdict on the Managed sectors after its initial proposals met with widespread derision from the industry. Plans to relabel the sectors as A, B, C and D put forward by the IMA are now on hold, with fund groups calling for further consultation to take place. The most controversial sector has consistently been the Cautious Managed, with complaints that its title implies a risk level not reflected in the performance of some of the funds in the sector.
