Progress made since the Tohoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami has been remarkable. Transport links are fully operational and some 60% of plants in the most badly affected areas are already back in production. News on power supply continues to improve. Tokyo Electric Power's estimate of its peak power supply capability was revised up several times in April and it now appears, if companies implement modest energy-saving measures, power shortages may be avoided over the summer.
